BABY DREAM #38

My husband and I run across
our college campus,
staying in the shadows
of guard shacks
and chapels.

On the brick lane beside the cafeteria,
the T-Rex
crushes alumni
names to anonymous dust.
He's looking for us.

We slip into the English building,
crouch in the inner corridor.
I take out
the large egg
I've concealed in my backpack,
and we watch
our son hatch
quietly in the dark.
