David Arroyo hails from West Columbia, South Carolina. In a small twist of cosmic ha ha, he spent years growing up within a fifty mile radius of Stirring Editor in Chief, Erin Elizabeth, but has still yet to meet her face to face.
As of now I'm a senior at Mercer University in the Southern fried town of Macon, Georgia.
Ah, but I suppose that's not enough; I bet you want credentials!
I'm an English Major with a poetry writing concentration. Over the past four years I've had the honor of taking classes with published poets Gordon Johnston, Louis Simpson, Jean Valentine, and Charles Simic. My career as a writer is just beginning; I've been published in several publications: Stirring, Samsara, and The Dulcimer.
I'm also a devotee of John Fowles, Tom Robbins, and Sharon Olds. If anyone out there can hook me up with a copy of The Aristos, email me now!
And it is also with great pride that I boast as being the Losingest Poet in the history of the now defunct IA Poetry Slam! :)
