i managed an amen, somewhat stifled by
the chewing of eggs & the swirling of
coffee. the coffee was too
bitter & lingered in my
mouth (i thought i was
swallowing an old lady, rotten
with loneliness and thoughts of what used
to be, dirty with the smell of old cats
and regret), and the

eggs had congealed, much like jelly.
