Deborah Bradford

Boyfriend (Revisited)

He never was a good kisser,

but I am an actress

and I believe he needs me.

I put my hands in his short hair.

My fingers are surprised,

     they thought they remembered

more.

So, I’m the one that got away?

My nod is a lie, but a white one,

      small.

The next is bigger, purple,

an eggplant. I’ve never stopped

thinking of you.

I hate eggplant.

It is soggy, mushy,

compliant.
