Just yesterday I kicked you out of the house
already your little sunshine-girl spirit
wakes me with her cold feet,
in my dream you are a toddler again
you roll over and cry that you are cold
and want your Big Bird socks
I peel an orange to smell the past
Snow angel/daughter with crystal blue eyes
in a desperate winter humming
white, white, white.
You say she is so real
gives you the camaraderie
and kinship
you have been so missing
her iambs aren't all used up
and hey, don't start dissin'
this good feelin' I got
when we sat naked
on her mattress
drinking Dos Equis out of a papercup.
